Andrew and Antoine met at McGill University, and came up with the idea to launch an AI-based fitness training app. Based in Toronto, the pair decided to relocate to Vancouver during the global pandemic. Gyms were closed in Toronto with no foreseeable openings, whilst Vancouver was riding the COVID wave a little better and allowed access to gyms to test and build the app.
Train officially launched on the Apple Store in September 2021, a month before it grabbed second place in the New Ventures BC Competition. Vespa invested in Train Fitness at pre seed stage.
Canadian based Train Fitness is transforming the way we track workouts. It uses artificial intelligence to detect exercises and track reps as users go through their workouts.
For the millions of gym-goers who currently use spreadsheets, their phone, or pen and paper to track their workouts, Train is a complete game-changer. Technology has made it much easier for people to track their aerobic exercises like running and cycling, but there has been a huge gap in the market for anaerobic exercise tracking like weightlifting; Train allows you to track your daily workout as effortlessly as your daily run.
